A couple of observations.

We are all blues fans. I have checked out Chan's website and it looks like the kind of place I would like. There are similarities to Moondog's (http://www.moondogs.us/index.asp). Chan's is displaying the artwork of George Frayne, a.k.a. Commander Cody. I just saw his band at Moondog's this week. It was a good show, check him out when he is in town.

You Chan's fans go to any blues festivals? Maybe I saved your seat while you ran for beer. Maybe you brought me back a cold one. Maybe we partied out in the parking lot.

I have noticed that fans are pretty much the same wherever you go. I truly believe that if Coco's itinerary were reversed and Chan's had a "bad" show, then the Chan's crowd would be bitching. I also believe that the Moondog's crowd (me included) would be telling you guys to stop your whining. Human nature, not a Pittsburgh/Rhode Island schizm.

Fans can be assholes, of course. I saw fans cheer when Terry Bradshaw, who was having a rare bad day, was injured. But I've also seen Pittsburgh blues fans understand when a band explains that their flight plans were screwed up and therefore they could only do one short set.

Anyway, Shemekia Copeland will be at Chan's next week. She is at Moondog's the week after. If you talk to her after the show, send a message to us. And if I am ever in the area I will be sure to see a show at Chan's.

I'm glad to see that all the fury has gone out of all involved over Coco'c "blunder" in Pittsburg. I can only say it must be an aberation because whever I have seen him play it has always been a gratifying experience. We just saw him again at the Chord On Blues in St. Charles, Illinois (about an hour west of Chitown) and the show was great and the sound there is always impecable. He always makes a point to have the audiance acknowledge the soundman at the end of the show, so it must be important to him, and no he didn't do a sound check, but maybe because he trusts the guy, and has played there many times, he doesn't bother. I'm a little biased I have to say though, because my late brother in law, Tommy Eyre played on Coco's last album just before he died of stomach cancer. Coco even made a point to seek me out and write a little note to my sister, the legendary session violinist Scarlet Rivera. Tommy has played and/or recorded with Joe Cocker, Jeff Beck, John Mayall, The Stones, B.B. King, Keb Moe, Albert Collins, Albert King, and one of my fav blues guitarists, Gary Moore, to name just a few...the guy was a top notch keyboard player and arranger. My sister has played and/or recorded with Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Indigo Girls, David Johanson, Duke Ellington, John Mayall, Keb Moe, and many others.

Glad to see the storm over Coco's Pittsburgh show has died. I saw him 2/29/04 and the show was awesome. Come to the Chord On Blues in St. Charles, Il. Bluesfan to see a great show and sound!

Hello from Western Mass. where Coco will be playing at the Iron Horse Music Hall on tuesday...have been waiting very patiently for this day for a month or so now. I have seen him twice so far, once last year at this same venue, and once at the Blues, Brews & Barbeques show here in 2000, I think.
Last years show at the Horse was excellent, even tho the place wasn't that full. I dislike weekday shows for that reason, but then feel a bit "special" because he is playing for such a small crowd! lol Hopefully I will get some good pics at the show, and post them fairly soon..

Bluzshark - I must agree with you, it seems really odd considering all the good experiences I've had seeing him live, not to mention all the positive comments in the guestbook.

I have been reading this post with interest as Iam seeing Coco this Sat. at Noth by Nothwest in Philadelphia. The last time I saw him was a few years ago at Northstar Bar in Philadelphia. It was one miserable night of teeming rain outside and ther were only a few dozen fans in attendence. However, It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He played the"Losing You" guitar solo fro 20 miniutes and had every one captivated. He was quite pleasant that night and stop to say "hi" when I engaged him as he walked past our table. Hopfully, Saturday night will be great too. I'll report after the concert.
